Monaco (P.ty), Wednesday 8 October 2025 – WES UCI E-Mountain Bike World Cup season reaches its climax by debuting in Tuscany, Italy, at the Massa Marittima Trail Area Round.
Perched on a hill 380 m. above sea level and enclosed by medieval walls, Massa Marittima blends rich history with stunning natural scenery, drawing cyclists and travellers from all over the world.
The World Cup racetrack is 2.6 km clockwise, with 170 m ascent per lap, technical and demanding. This was designed on brand-new concept trails, created for this big event to become permanent facilities for the big local community and the cycle tourists’ delight.
With a single-race format for the final event, riders will have only one chance to secure their place in the records, on a course providing the perfect terrain and setting for the world’s top E-MTB athletes.
A good bunch of well-known local riders, such as Italian hero Martino Fruet (Lapierre Trentino Ale’), multiple-time Italian Champion Anna Oberparleitter (Team Cingolani Specialized), gravity pro Andrea Garibbo (Haibike), recovering from injuries Giulia Bertoni and Cristian Bernardi (Teewing Factory Team), Andrea Pavanello (El Coridor Team), local Simone Massoni (Bike Academy Marchini Costruzioni), returning WES’ friend, Roberto Fabbri (Fantic Factory), along with Filippo Baldoni (TUSCANY BIKE PARK), Andrea Carli (Ciclosport Poggibonsi) and many more wildcards.
On top of the leaderboard is also the Italian Reigning National Champ Mirko Tabacchi (Thok Askoll), who’s fighting for the men’s World Cup title with a narrow margin over Frenchman Théo Charmes (Teewing Factory Team) and Swiss Joris Ryf (Specialized).

Tabacchi has 110 points, Charmes 96 and Ryf 93.
Tabacchi leads the standings and will secure the title if he finishes 1st to 4th in the final race. A 5th place would result in a tie with Charmes, should the Frenchman win, but the latter would win the title thanks to the number of victories.

Therefore, Charmes would clinch the title by winning the race and relying on Tabacchi finishing 6th or lower.
Ryf would be the World Cup winner if he wins the race, while Tabacchi finishes 8th or lower, and Charmes doesn’t win.

In the Women’s, Sofia Wiedenroth (Specialized) has already secured the top spot as 2025 World Cup Winner for the first time after 6 seasons of seeking it. She won the very first edition of WES back in 2019 when the series wasn’t yet a World Cup, but a UCI International Event.
The fight for the team title couldn’t be closer. Teewing Factory Team currently tops the standings with 229 points, just ahead of Specialized on 223, while Haibike sits third with 185.
The Santero Holeshot Award, given to the first woman and man to cross the first turn in each race, already sees Sofia Wiedenroth (5) as the 2025 winner.
Lukas Dennda (2), Jérôme Gilloux (2), Mirko Tabacchi (1), and Joris Ryf (1) are neck and neck in the fight for the award. If either Tabacchi or Ryf takes the award, they could win, as this would be the latest win in the calendar. Dennda would win if he takes the Holeshot at Massa, but if any other rider different from the above-mentioned does, Gilloux would be the winner.

Everything remains wide open for the Massa Marittima Trail Area Round, with Wiedenroth, Spielmann, and Stirnemann all tied at one win apiece. If a rider different from them takes the final fastest race lap of the season, that rider would secure the overall award.
On the men’s side, Charmes holds two, while Tabacchi has one. The Italian needs to triumph in the last race to claim it; otherwise, it would go to the Frenchman.

In 2020, only one round took place, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the count started in 2021 with French Mélanie Pugin as the Title winner. Young Swiss Nicole Göldi clinched next year’s title, Justine Tonso in 2023 and Anna Spielmann in 2024.
“The Specialist” Jérôme Gilloux, on the other side of the paddock, solidified his dominance by securing the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 titles, but 2025 will see a different winner, as he couldn’t make it to the series consistently this year.
The Awards presentation ceremony will take place Saturday 11 October for the first time at Massa Marittima, one of the most beautiful Italian Medieval towns, at the “Bike Garage & More” venue, a traditional place for cyclists from all over the world to gather after a ride. Once again, Santero bubbles and a celebration atmosphere for the protagonists of another exciting racing season coming to an end.
