Monaco (P.ty) Wednesday 31 August 2022 – After a week of intense moments of sports for both E-Mountain Biking and Spa-Francorchamps, WES is finally going to debut at the Belgian Circuit.

The UCI E-MTB World Championships were held last week, awarding the 2022 rainbow jerseys of the discipline and the Belgian GP of F1 took place at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, and an overall growing enthusiasm awaits Round 4 of the series.

The world-famous Raidillon turn at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

Record setters Nicole Göldi (Trek) from Switzerland, in the Women’s, and the French Jérôme Gilloux (Lapierre) in the Men’s, they both just won their second World Title in a row, for the first time in the history of E-MTB.

2-time and Reigning World Champion Nicole Göldi

The two specialists are getting to Spa-Francorchamps leading the WES UCI E-MTB World Cup standings and the battle is pretty much open in the Women’s field, as Göldi is leading by 2 points only ahead of French Justine Tonso (Lapierre), Vice-World Champion, who’s yearning for taking the lead again, as she was on top of the leaderboard for the entire season, until last round.

Sofia Wiedenroth (Specialized) from Germany is thirsty for victory and despite she’s still recovering from her latest crash, she is clearly a Belgian podium contender.

2-time World Champion and 2-time Vice-World Champion Jérôme Gilloux

A completely different scenario in the Men’s race, as Gilloux is not only galvanised by the World Title, but he’s also separate from the Swiss runner up Joris Ryf (Bergstrom) by 54 points and Loïc Noël (Specialized), also from Switzerland, is just 2 points behind his fellow, and always battling for a podium position.

Spa-Francorchamps will see the awaited return of Dutchman Jeroen van Eck (Ghost), after an injury and also his fellows Kjell van den Boogert (American Eagle) and Rob Meeuwessen (Specialized) won’t miss the closest round to their home country.
