Bielstein: A scenic setting for the UCI E-MTB XC World Cup

Germany Round presented by Schwalbe could be a turning point in the standings

 

Bielstein (Germany), Friday 1 September 2023 – The WES UCI E-MTB XC World Cup makes its much-anticipated debut in Bielstein, Germany, on September 2-3, following hot on the heels of the legendary Spa-Francorchamps Round.

The Belgium event saw victories from Justine Tonso (Lapierre Overvolt) in Race 1 and Sofia Wiedenroth (Specialized) in Race 2 on the Women’s side, while Joris Ryf (Specialized) dominated both days in the Men’s category.

Now, ahead of the Germany Round, competition in the Overall Standings is heating up, adding even more excitement to the UCI E-MTB XC World Cup.

Currently, Justine Tonso leads the Women’s Standings with 161 points, but Sofia Wiedenroth is closing in with 144, just 17 behind. With three rounds left in the 2023 season, the battle for glory is poised to intensify.

On the Men’s side is even tighter. Jérôme Gilloux (Lapierre Overvolt) currently holds the top spot with 167 points, but Joris Ryf, riding high since his UCI World Championships victory, is on fire with 155. The gap has narrowed to just 12 points, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown in Germany.

Also, local riders Heiko Hog, Rico Libesch, Hannes Hermann, Antonia Daubermann (Advanced E-Racing), Robert Mennen (Schwalbe Crew), Patrick Leitinger (FRB Racing Team – TV Bickenbach e.V.), Jonas Knöpsel (NAGEL CX Team) and Jan Mickoleitare (FRB Racing Team) are ready to defend the German flag on track.

New place to race

The event is a collaborative effort between MSC Drabenderhöhe-Bielstein e.V. in the ADAC and will take place at the MX facilities known as “Bielsteiner Waldkurs,” which has been a fixture since its establishment in 1951, in Bielstein.

This track holds a special place in motocross history as one of Europe’s oldest and it is nestled within the natural beauty of the Bergisches Land region, approximately 40 km to the east of Cologne.

Bielstein offers a wealth of outdoor activities, as well-marked hiking trails that start from the village and offer breathtaking vistas. It has become a favoured destination for nature lovers, making it the perfect backdrop for a WES Event.
